Freight Future Summit, August 2022

The Freight Future Summit, over 1-2 August 2022, was the preeminent freight and logistics conference in New Zealand and the first time it had been held for two years.

During the conference Dave Christie, supply chain strategy advisor for Tainui Group Holdings, NZTE and Synergic Technologies presented the findings from over 200 supply chain reviews performed with NZTE’s export business customers.

One of the main insights was that while most customers approached NZTE due to shipping and freight issues, they had little influence and control over these aspects of their global supply chains and therefore could achieve limited impact in these areas.

As such, most recommendations for improvement across their global supply chains were in areas within the control of the businesses themselves – supply chain strategy; S&OP; inventory optimisation; supply chain capabilities, processes and systems.
